Assessment-Based Recognition in Medical Office Basics is composed of five courses:
Communication at its Best -1 G
Effective communication is crucial to reducing medical errors and running a successful health care practice. Describe strategies for overcoming barriers to communication. Outline the role of medical practice staff in promoting effective communication.
Health Care Compliance for the Front Office - 1 AG
Health care compliance can be challenging due to ever-changing laws, regulations, and requirements. Learn how front-office staff can uphold patient safety, patient privacy, and accurate billing. Discuss the role of front-office staff in emergencies.
Legal Overview for the Medical Office – 1 AG
Both state and federal laws govern the scope of practice of health care professionals. Review concepts such as consent, standard of care, and malpractice. Discuss the importance of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in upholding patient safety and the law in medical practices.
Registration and Insurance - 1 AG
Working on the front lines of medical practices requires an abundance of expertise in communication and safety. Learn the skills and characteristics required of a medical practice receptionist. Review techniques for using the telephone, scheduling appointments, and collecting payments from patients. Discuss the necessary aspects of maintaining environmental safety and security for the practice.
How to Deal When Things Are, In Fact, Not Fine - 1 G
Stress and anxiety in the workplace can occur as a result of both personal and professional stressors. Learn how to identify signs of stress and anxiety at work. Explore strategies to help avoid feeling stress at work. Discover how to manage competing demands from work and personal life, leading to better engagement in the workplace and self-care.
Each course includes video content and a posttest with a minimum passing score of 80%. Users will earn CEUs as they pass the individual courses. Those who pass some, but not all, of the five courses will still earn CEUs for the courses that were passed.
One retake per course posttest is allowed.
