Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a highly preventable and detectable disease that remains the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Join the AAMA for a panel discussion with colorectal cancer medical professionals, advocates, and experts to discuss current CRC screening recommendations, barriers to screening tests, and medical assistants’ role in improving screening rates. Attendees will gain overview knowledge and awareness of colorectal cancer.

The AAMA received the 2021 80% in Every Community National Achievement Award for developing initiatives that support the goal to achieve colorectal cancer screening rates of 80% and higher. We thank the American Cancer Society Inc. (ASC) and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (NCCRT) for hosting the award and funding this event.

The panel discussion will cover the following objectives:

• Examine the American Cancer Society guidelines for colorectal cancer screening.
• Discuss the barriers to colorectal cancer screening and early detection among young adults.
• Explain medical assistants’ role in improving colorectal screening rates.
