Course Description
Identifying and Responding to Human Trafficking: The Medical Assistant’s Role is a comprehensive course that explores the scope of human trafficking, who is most at risk, and how medical assistants can identify red flags and respond appropriately and safely.

This course equips medical assistants with hands-on strategies to support their patients, their practices, and themselves in the fight against human trafficking.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:  

• Recognize indicators of human trafficking
• Apply effective and trauma-informed communication strategies
• Describe laws related to human trafficking, reporting, and privacy
• Follow appropriate documentation protocols
• Collaborate with health care teams and local agencies to support individuals affected by human trafficking
• Implement strategies to manage secondary trauma and support personal well-being

Learners will have 50 days from starting the course to complete and pass the posttest.
