This course examines the lifelong challenges adults living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) may experience, including unique barriers in health care settings. Learners will identify the crucial role medical assistants play in supporting individuals with FASD through person-centered, strengths-based care, appropriate accommodations, and community referrals. The course also emphasizes empathetic communication strategies that build trust, reduce stigma, and improve care coordination and patient outcomes.
