Course Description
This course will help you understand the psychological aspects related to pediatric care and the role that medical assistants play. You will learn about some of the most common mental health issues seen in the pediatric field as well as other prevalent, related concerns.

Explore the following topics related to psychological aspects of pediatric care:
  • Common mental health diagnoses
  • Other issues such as bullying, suicide, social media, and peer pressure

Learning Objectives
  • Understand and describe the basics of mental health in pediatric care, particularly symptoms and treatment
  • Identify and describe common mental health diagnoses including their symptoms, how they are diagnosed, and their treatment
  • Describe bullying and its warning signs
  • Identify suicide risk factors, warning signs, diagnosis, and prevention treatment
  • Understand the social media habits of children as well as the benefits and risks of using social media
  • Describe peer pressure and its positive and negative influences
