Course Description
This course explores the expanding role of health coaching in outpatient care and highlights how credentialed medical assistants can support patients in achieving meaningful behavior change. Learners will examine the principles of health coaching, distinguish health coaching from other coaching models, and review the core competencies that contribute to effective patient engagement. The course also introduces key elements of the health coaching process, including rapport building, motivational interviewing, and goal setting. Drawing on research and real-world practice examples, learners will discover how medical assistants can improve patient outcomes, support chronic disease management, and strengthen population health initiatives through health coaching.
