Course Description
This course will help you understand important aspects of pediatric care for children of all ages (infants to adolescents). You will learn about well-child visits, immunizations, and other aspects of pediatric care.

Explore the following topics related to well-child care:
  • Benefits of well-child visits
  • Components and schedule (infancy through adolescence) of well-child visits
  • Immunization schedule from birth to 18 years
  • Ethical issues concerning childhood immunizations
  • Role of sex education and screening for sexually transmitted infections in patient health
  • Common types of abuse and neglect as well as associated risk factors

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the ages at which well-child visits should occur
  • Describe the examinations, assessments, and screenings of typical well-child visits • List the vaccinations given from birth to 6 years and 7 to 18 years

Learners who’ve passed all four individual courses of the ABC-P Program can request the final exam for the entire ABC-P Program by emailing ContinuingEducation@aama-ntl.org at no additional cost. Requests will be processed in approximately three to five business days. If the learner passes the final exam, they will have earned the Assessment-Based Certificate in Pediatrics.
