People who are pregnant or who may be pregnant should be advised that during pregnancy, no known safe amount, time, or type of alcohol use exists. Explore the effects of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) on children and behavioral and communication interventions. Examine how medical assistants can bolster screening for and prevention of FASDs by fostering trust with patients, reducing stigma related to substance use, and screening all patients for substance use during pregnancy.
