Program Description
Children’s health needs evolve from birth through adolescence, requiring healthcare professionals to understand preventive care, growth and development, common health conditions, and behavioral health concerns. This program provides a comprehensive foundation in pediatric care, covering newborn assessment, well-child visits, developmental screening, common childhood illnesses and injuries, and pediatric mental health.
Learners will gain practical knowledge to support families, recognize health concerns early, reinforce preventive care, and contribute to positive physical, developmental, and emotional outcomes for pediatric patients.
Content Overview
To earn the certificate, learners must successfully complete all four courses and the final assessment.
- Course 1: Well-Child Care
- Course 2: Newborn Care
- Course 3: Common Childhood Illnesses, Conditions, and Injuries
- Course 4: Psychological Aspects of Pediatric Care
The time allotted for completion of the Certificate Program is 90 days.
Additional Information
- A practice exam is included for each course.
- The final assessment must be passed with a score of 70% or higher in order to earn the CEU credit.
- The final assessment is timed, allowing users 120 minutes to complete the test.
- This is a closed-book test, with no option for going back into the course once the test has been started.

NOTE: The ABC-P Program is an assessment-based certificate program, not a professional certification program. A recipient of the Assessment-Based Certificate in Pediatrics must not claim that the ABC-P is a professional certification and must not use any initialisms in reference to the ABC-P after her/his name. Recipients of the ABC-P who are proven to have disregarded this policy will have their ABC-P revoked, must return the ABC-P certificate to the AAMA Continuing Education Department, and will have their names removed from the public roster of ABC-P holders.

This bundle is designed for medical assistants, CMA (AAMA) professionals, allied health professionals, medical assisting students, and ambulatory care team members who provide care for pediatric patients. Learners will strengthen their ability to support preventive care, developmental monitoring, patient education, illness management, and behavioral health across the pediatric continuum of care.
